This past winter saw its share of snow, however it was not really cold. The spring, however has been unseasonably cold. We emerged from winter in pretty good shape. The garlic that was planted in November was protected over the winter with straw and has come up nicely. The 7th Grade work force met the garden head on, by adding compost made at school to the garden. See the video above showing how this is done. The compost is the only nutrient source for the Karen's Garden, so we like to consider ourselves as organic in a manner of speaking. After we add the compost we turn the garden with spades and rakes and then root-till the mixture before raking it smooth. Check out the root-tiller below!
