Again we have made it through another successful growing season. Much of our yield is due, in large part, to the nitogen rich soil we compost and create during the year. It is mid January in the garden and surrounding compost piles. Leaves, collected in the fall, were placed in this make shift pen to keep them cool and dry. This bin also keeps the snow out when the flap is closed.
Our biggest crop of 2008 would have to be the cucumbers that were grown in the in the compost rich soil made at USM. We harvest well over 125 cucumbers from the garden this past summer -and were they good. They went from the garden, to the kitchen, and to a salad in no time at all!
