44 Pounds More!
We weighed the organic waste that came from the MS/LS dining room from Wednesday-Friday of this week. The total weight was 44 pounds! The total amount of material that we contributed to the compost for the week is 131 pounds! Over the course of a 38 week school year, this comes out to an amount that totals almost 5000 pounds!

i am impressed with that number. 2.5 tons is a significant amount. If the Upper School becomes involved, it will be more like 5 tons for a total. I am interested in the amount of soil we are able to generate. We willhave to keep careful records form here on out.
I am hopeful that we can set up a schedule for composting and also for recycling. We need to recycle one/week (Thursday is the best time after school) and compost twice /week (Wed and Fri) work well.
For the next meeting we should have two major goals 1. Fundraising activity and 2. sign up schedule for collection of recyclables.
Could the MS group just set up a pail in the US lunch room and do take care of it, if the US group is to busy, or would it be to complicated?
